Road to success EP57!

Ashlee's Road To Success:

Name: Ashlee De Saldanha

Occupation: "I work part time for a tax and accounting company. I am also studying LLB Law part time at Unisa."

Goal in life: "Well at this stage, I'm only turning 21, so I would consider seeing this as my "selfish years" - taking the time to build my own foundation in my career one step at a time. That has to be one of my main goals. My family has got to be one of my biggest support systems and pillars of strength too, and in turn would like to show them my success and definitely share it with them. And also to just motivate people in general, to just go after their dreams. Anything, and I mean anything is possible once you set your mind on it."

What is success? "Success can obviously be defined in several ways but the way I see it is not based on money it's actually more of getting to a place that you want to be in life and actually satisfied with it. I'm 100% convinced that defining success is more of being happy rather than being rich."

What success have you achieved? "I'm not a control freak, but I do know what I want in relation to my career and how far I should and want to go. Building my foundation and setting out specific goals for myself to keep me on track is probably one of my main successes so far."

What success do you want to achieve? "The success I'm yet to achieve is basically giving back to those who have done and given up tremendous amounts into helping me build my foundation and then of course to having my own precious family and providing for them in a financially stable position."

All the best on your road to success Ashlee...

12 Tips on Staying Inspired in 2015...

Hi Everyone!

I'm planning on doing a "Goals for 2015" post soon (I know what some of you are thinking... and NO it's never too late to set goals). I found this picture below on Pinterest and I thought it was perfect for the theme of the blog since we do aim to inspire and encourage. I don't know about you but when it comes to staying inspired, it's definitely an on going process for me. I have to keep myself inspired daily so I can achieve all my daily goals. The tips on the picture are helpful and relevant to everybody. It pretty much covers every aspect. And that's amazing!

Here's a summary of the tips:

Stay Healthy!

  1. Drink a glass of water. This cannot be stressed enough. Water is important for the functioning of our bodies. Staying hydrated helps maintain the balance of body fluids and helps detoxify it as well, it keeps your skin moisturized and soft and maintains elasticity in the skin, helps in weight loss, muscle efficiency etc. It has many benefits. If you don't like the taste of water then infuse some fruits in your water to help it taste better or better yet just add some lemon into your water.
  2. Move and sweat. Exercise is important not only if you're trying to lose weight but just for general health. There are a lot of lifestyle diseases out there and I always say prevention is better than cure. So walk, run, gym, play tennis, walk the dog, do whatever to get that exercise in.
  3. Get some sleep. This tip for me is a tease. As a med student sleep is a luxury which unfortunately you won't always have. But whenever I can I get that sleep in. If you are like me then aim for 4-6 hours of sleep. If you're a 'normal' person then 6-8 hours is perfect and sufficient.
Plan your day!

  1. Top 3 tasks. Make a list of the 3 most important things you have to do. Do those first every morning and then do the rest once you're finished. Having accomplished that will make you feel like you're on top of the world, trust me I know! Prioritize, it makes things easier and keeps you inspired to do more as you complete each task.
  2. The 50/10 rule. Work and focus for 50 mins straight and then take a break for 10 mins. You'll have a lot done that way. And 10 mins is enough to stretch or take a walk or get some water, it'll minimize procrastination and get things done.
  3. Reflect daily. Evaluate yourself and how your day was. Did you achieve everything you wanted to? What can you do differently tomorrow to better your day, to make it more productive or to be a better person? Did you make someone's day? Are you happy with the person you are? Reflect and take time to just think about your life and how good you have it.
Keep learning!

  1. Reading. Knowledge is Power! Learn about the world and read to further your knowledge, it'll benefit you in the long run.
  2. Browsing. Learn. Do tutorials. You can never know enough! Stay updated.
  3. Brainstorm. Think of ideas that will help you at work. Think of how you can achieve more of your goals. You can brainstorm about anything you like. If you're a romantic for example, brainstorm how you can spoil your partner on Valentines Day.
Focus on what makes you happy...NB! NB! NB!

  1. Express gratitude. Gratitude definitely promotes happiness. Be thankful. There are many people out there who are not as privileged as most of us are. Give thanks and cherish the things you have, family, friends, your job, your car, the fact that you are able to study or afford clothing and food. Whatever it may be, give thanks!
  2. Clean your desk. A messy desk is chaotic and just defeats you and puts you off work. Keep your desk clean so you can feel inspired to work and tackle what you have to do.
  3. Indulge in your favourite things. Be it your hobbies, spending time with the family or spouse, going to the movies, travelling, volunteering... there's a lot you can do to help you stay grounded and happy. Family and friends are important so don't neglect them.

how to stay inspired to create great things! Including blog post, social media conversations, ads, and more!

Hope you all stay inspired. The blog is always here if you need your dose of daily motivation and encouragement. Here's to an amazing 2015 *whoop whoop*!

Peace. Happiness. Success.

Road to success EP55!

Tammy's Road To Success:

Name: Tamlyn Jacobus

Occupation: I'm a web developer by day, Blogger by night and then of course my other two jobs, Mother to Mila Thandi and Wife to my one and only Camilo.

Goal in life: My goals in life is to be the best at what I do. Mother, Wife, Developer and Blogger. I'm a fiercely competitive and ever since birthing my daughter, it's become my life's mission to make her proud to call me mom.

Another goal of mine is to empower women. Women of all ages, races and sizes, To show them that no one is perfect but that doesn't mean that you have to hide from the world, go out, be bold, be fierce.

What is success? Success to me is many things, most importantly personal fulfillment. The moment you feel fulfilled with your life is the moment you've reached success.

Success is not money, work title or how feared you are by others but more the legacy you leave behind and if you're satisfied with what your biography will read.

What success have you achieved? I've achieved being at the company I set my mind to, even though I was told I'd never have the skill-set to be part of the best agency in the country. I used that negativity and turned it into positivity by proving that I am good enough to be part of the best and to be the best! I've successfully found and married my soul mate as well as giving birth naturally to my gorgeous daughter Mila Thandi.

What success are you yet to achieve? I've climbed the ladder in my industry, starting from the bottom as an intern and now, I'm part of a group of individuals who strive to be the best, produce the best and outshine the rest. I aim to achieve success in my blogging career the same way I've managed to do in my professional(day-to-day) career.

All the best on your journey and in the year ahead Tamlyn...

Make it a Month to Remember!

Hello January Picture
The most important thing about goals is having one.
Geoffry F. Abert

Knowledge is Power and a look back at the past year...

A new year has begun, I look back at the past year and I must say what a year it was. A lot happened, good and bad but I can't lie mostly good happened. It was a year full of surprises, hard work and faith. Faith definitely helped me through a lot and of course my family, boyfriend and friends. I'm proud to say that I lost many "friends" this year which to some may me be a sad thing but to me it was just great, all losing friends means to me is that I'm growing up and entering into a different phase in my life. I've also gained new friends, friends who have the same mindset as me and that help me grow to be the best I can be.

I'm also proud to say that I read a lot more books this past holiday,  especially success books which are surprisingly amazing to read. You definitely learn a lot from these books, so I would advise you all too read them. Some of the books I've read are The Lazy Man's Way To Riches by Joe Karbo, The Law Of Success in sixteen lessons by Napoleon Hill, Goal setting for success by Annabelle Beckwith and many more which I will tell you about later. I've promised myself to read as much and as often as I can so I can get more educated. Like they say "Knowledge is Power" and I'm a firm believer of education!

I leave you with these quotes and some advise. Always strive to be a better you, educate yourself, push yourself and be the best you! And never ever give up on your hopes and dreams, work towards them no matter how difficult it may seem.

1.           “Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.” – Anonymous
2.           “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” – Barack Obama
3.           “I don’t believe in luck. Luck = Leaving things to chance and outside world. I believe in being harbingers of our fate, taking action and creating our own path and destiny in life. Your life is yours to create – Don’t let others do it for you.” – Celestine Chua
4.           “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.”- Colin Powell
5.           “The most important thing about goals is having one.” – Geoffry F. Abert

All the best!

Peace. Happiness. Love.
